Description:
Covering the Western Section from the summit tunnel at Foulridge into Liverpool, including the Leigh and Rufford Branch. Descending through the cotton towns of Nelson and Burnley, the industrial character of this section is completely different to the Eastern Section. We pass through the 23 locks of the notorious Wigan flight, where help is available from British Waterways personnel. The last 35 miles into Liverpool are remarkably scenic, passing Aintree Racecourse on the way.
